S@W is a registered charity, run by volunteers and is an integral part of WSC. Providing our sailing activities year on year requires a substantial amount of finance, which has to be raised by S@W and its volunteers. Each year we pay:
* A range of facility costs to WSC for insurance and use of club facilities such as berthing for our sailboat fleet,
powerboats and safety equipment
* Expenses to our Sailing Instructors who must always be on site when we are sailing for safety and training purposes.
* Costs linked to volunteer training and support
* Costs needed to support, maintain and expand our sailboat fleet and all our safety equipment. (Capital costs)
* Small amounts to support admin, marketing and social activities
A small proportion of our expenses are met by the annual charge paid by our disabled sailors
but the remainder has to be raised as follows:
* Making applications to small and large, national and local trusts and funding organisations such as Sport England and Gloucestershire Funders
* Encouraging and receiving donations from private individuals and groups such as the Rotary and Lions clubs
and local companies
* Organising fund raising events such as socials and quizzes
* Making the most of social media options, such as Crowd Funding, Just Giving and Easyfundrasing
S@W is enormously grateful for all the funding support described above, but will always welcome any new opportunities or help to raise funds and build partnerships with new and existing funders.
